Until this challenge, I didn’t fathom what we actually see only in the prism of black and white ~ there seems to be a hint of colour everywhere hence I wasn’t happy with anything that I captured today – and it wasn’t until evening, when I was sat on my bed, with (completely unintended) black and white spread, looking at a book that it struck me…how did I never notice,(being the book lover that I am) that the black inked words on white sheets of paper would be a perfect example of black and white in our colourful world. I am sure there are more examples – but I probably have never noticed them….shows to go how easy it is to miss things that are in front of us, doesn’t it? Do we go around with eyes wide shut or do we just simply take things for granted that we no longer actually see the things we are looking at? And that probably includes ourselves!
How apt the book I was reading is called “The best things about you is you by Anupam Kher” keeping to the theme of my blog which is “Be you – everyone else is taken!”
The pages I opened to photograph are titled as below ~ perhaps more lessons to learn!? 🙂
- Value yourself
- Don’t fear change
- A smile can conquer stress
“Each day holds a surprise. But only if we expect it can we see, hear, or feel it when it comes to us. Let’s not be afraid to receive each day’s surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow or as joy, it will open a new place in our hearts, a place where we can welcome new friends and celebrate more fully our shared humanity. ~ Henri Nouwen”
