“Shehar ki daud me daud ke karna kya he” Poem with English Translation (From the film Lage Raho Munnabhai)

Shehar ki is daud me daud ke karana kya hai?
Agar yahi jeena hai doston, to fir marna kya hai?

Paheli barish me, train late hone ki fikra hai
Bhul gaye,  bhigate hue tahelna kya hai?

Serial ke kirdaro ka sara haal hai maalum
Par maa kaa haal puchhne ki, furasat kaha hai?

Aap ret pe nange paav tahelate kyo nahi?
Ek so aat hai channel, par dil bahelate kyo nahi?

Internet pe duniya se to touch mai hai,
Lekin padosh me kaun raheta hai, janate tak nahi?

Mobile, land line sab ki bharmaar hai,
Lekin jigari dost tak pohche aise taar kaha hai?

Kab dubate hue suraj ko dekha tha, yaad hai?
Kab jaana tha, shaam ka guzarna kya hai?

To doston,Shehar ki is daud me daud ke karana kya hai?
Agar yahi jeena hai doston, to fir marna kya hai?

Is there a need to run in the City’s rat race?
If this is to live, then what is to die?

You worry about the train delays due to the first rains,
But have you forgotten what it was like to feel the raindrops on your face?

You know all about the latest gossip of soaps and celebs,
But have you no time, for your mother’s embrace?

Why do you not have the time to amble barefoot on the beach?
108 channels on TV, and yet the strange restlessness can’t be effaced?

You are in touch with the world through the internet,
But have you any knowledge of who lives at your next door place?

You are fully equipped with mobiles, landlines, etc.
But aren’t lines that reach your best friends heart now replaced?

Do you remember when you last saw the sunset?
Do you remember the last time an evening, idle, by the fireplace?

So friends, is there a need to run in the City’s rat race?
If this is to live, then what is to die?
